Ichelium Red Garlic Bulbs (1 lb. bag) $ 14.40 Garlic Bulbs (8 oz. bag) $ 9.00 Garlic Bulbs (3) $ 2.65 Mother of Pearl is a rare gourmet garlic variety and one of the best varieties for storage. It has a surprisingly spicy flavor, and is a distinct strain that features a pearl-white outer skin with pinkish inner layers. Highly potent and spicy flavor makes Mother of Pearl a favorite for adding heat to any cuisine. Need Description Large bulbs with numerous small cloves wrapped in white skin with purple stripes. Vigorous relatively heat tolerant plants. Widely grown in Gilroy, CA, the "Garlic Capitol of the World." A luminous pure-white garlic, consistently large and uniform. Robust, balanced but spicy flavor. Keeps up to twelve months. Averages 3-4 bulbs per 1/2 lb with 15-18 cloves per bulb. Well-filled bulbs, light skinned and firm with purple-tinges on the wrapper. Pungent flavor, slightly tangy. Vigorous, heavy garlic. Approximately 12-16 cloves per bulb arrayed in many layers. Does well in hot climates. Great for storage. Exceptionally large, pungent cloves and extremely productive. Earlier maturing than other silverskin types, with attractive satiny white wrappers. Moderately long storage. 15-18 cloves per bulb. Heirloom garlic discovered on the Colville Indian Reservation in Washington, this vigorous strain has a mild, lingering flavor that sharpens in storage.
