HYDRASTIS CANADENSIS is commonly known as Goldenseal.  This medicinal plant is a slow growing perennial native to hardwood forests in the Eastern USA.  Native Americans, well aware of its medicinal benefits, included the plant in their diets and shared this knowledge with early settlers who quickly began using it.  In 1997, Hydrastis canadensis was placed on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species Appendix List II, due to it's over collection in the wild. Two Creeks is in its 6th year of cultivating Hydrastis canadensis.

Last year we began cultivating Chamaelirium luteum, and we will continue to encourage and nurture this scarce herbaceous perennial along with many herbs and medicinal plants that are currently most sensitive to the impact of human activities.  Found growing on Two Creeks are several plants that are designated UpS At Risk (at risk now in its natural environment) and UpS To Watch (potential to become At Risk in the future); Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis), Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa), Partridge Berry (Mitchella repens), Pink Root (Spigelia marilandica), Pipsissewa (Chimaphila umbellate), Stone Root (collinsonia canadensis), Mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum), and Lobelia (Lobelia spp.).

In addition to cultivating native plants, we have introduced a plethorea of medicinal plants and herbs that can be purchased in 3" pots, or fresh-cut and fresh-dried. Please visit our members shopping cart for availablilty;
