Few people these days remember the village blacksmith, in the past the center of society, and now almost legend. Today their hand-forged pieces are treasured, and the craft is being preserved by a group of dedicated blacksmiths across the nation. The blacksmiths of today's trade renaissance are not mere shoers of horses; they are contemporary craftsmen and women turning masses of hot iron into functional tools and decorative objects to be admired. From nearly 1200 B.C. until today, the blacksmith has played a vital part in the development of the world, and they will continue to dramatically change our lives with methods originating from ancient times.
Two Creeks forge is occupied by Joe Farrell and his indispensable articles hammered out of red-hot iron on his anvil. His early interest in metallurgy led him to discover the village blacksmith of long ago, and now he enthusiastically shares his craft with captivated onlookers, many who progress to carry on this traditional trade. For more information, contact Joe Farrell at Two Creeks Farm.
